Vacancies for Volunteer Citizen Advocates

Can you spare a minimum of 2-3 hours every month?

Are you passionate about the rights and needs of others?

Do you believe everyone should be involved in decisions about their lives?

Citizen Advocates are volunteers who provide help and support to people in their community with health conditions or disabilities who are struggling to be listened to and/or are unsure of their rights.  Advocates are matched with one advocacy partner and their main aim is to ensure their partner feels valued, respected and included.

A potential advocate does not have to be good at everything.  Different partners will have different needs and will vary in the kind of relationship they want with their advocate.  A partner needing someone to help them get support- or services they are being denied- might require a different advocate from someone whose overriding need is to engage with their local community, or an individual who may require support to communicate their wishes and opinions.

Include Me Development Workers provide support, information and training to advocates to ensure they are well prepared for their advocacy role.

We support all advocates and partners along their advocacy journey and ensures the right matches are made to promote a enduring advocacy relationship built on trust and respect.
